Sometimes the Most Radical Act Is to Undo What You've Built | Kathy Coffey Solberg
Kathy Coffey Solberg is a community weaver who also literally weaves fabric — and she couldn't unsee the parallel. A floor loom, with hundreds of threads running through tiny metal pieces, looks exactly like the systems we navigate at work every day. That insight became her first book, "Reweaving What Matters: Practical Tools for Workplace Transformation." In this conversation, Kathy shares her Penelope Principle, inspired by the weaver in Homer's Odyssey who wove by day and unwove by night as an act of agency. She explains the six-step practice at the heart of her Unweaving-Reweaving framework: Notice, Clarify, Act then Envision, Structure, Weave. We also talk about why tension belongs in a healthy workplace, the difference between belonging and mattering, and why this book is about the messy middle of change rather than the tidy "after." This one is for anyone who has tried to change something at work, watched it not work, and has just a little energy left to try again.
